Zelensky suggested that 9 May should be Europe Day instead of Victory Day

Office of the President

The Ukrainian president has already signed a decree to this effect.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during his address to the nation on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II 1939-1945.

Zelenskyy said that he wanted to set 8 May as Ukraine's Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II in 1939-1945, and to mark 9 May as Europe Day instead of Victory Day.

The President of Ukraine has already signed the corresponding decree.

Today, I have signed the corresponding decree and every year, starting tomorrow, on May 9, we will honour our historic unity - the unity of all Europeans who destroyed Nazism and who will defeat racism".
