Zaluzhny said that mobilisation should be strengthened
The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, has named five priorities in order to withstand a war with Russia. One of them is the need to build up reserves.
Ukraine should expand the category of citizens who can be called up for training or mobilisation. The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, wrote about this in a column in The Economist.
Zaluzhny wrote that there are five priorities for Ukraine to turn the tide in the war: air superiority, improved REB and counter-battery warfare, the need for new mine counter-breach technologies and modern command and logistics.
My fifth and last priority is to build up our reserves," Zaluzhny noted.
According to Zaluzhny, Ukraine's ability to train reserves on its own territory is limited.
We are trying to fix these problems. We are introducing a unified register of conscripts, we have to expand the category of citizens who can be called up for training or mobilisation. We are also introducing "combat training", which involves placing newly mobilised and trained personnel in experienced combat units for their training," Zaluzhny wrote.
Zaluzhny noted that there are gaps in the Ukrainian legislation that allow citizens to evade their duties.
