Explosions at Engels airfield complicate missile attacks on Ukraine
Russia has redeployed Tu-95MS heavy bombers and Tu-22M3 long-range medium bombers to the Far East.
on 5 and 26 December, a long-range aviation base in Engels was hit and several aircraft were damaged.
British Intelligence noted that long-range aircraft could still launch air-launched cruise missiles into Ukraine:
Operating from dispersal sites would add to the maintenance burden and further deplete the limited run of these outdated aircraft.
Russian bombers can launch missiles with a range of 5,000 km, in addition to the bombers' range.
