AFU reveals how ready Ukrainian infrastructure is to receive F-16 fighters

F-16s have landed at Ukrainian airbases before.

The head of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Holubtsov, said this in an interview with The Times.

According to the military officer, the Ukrainian infrastructure is ready to receive F-16 fighters. Namely, our runways are quite suitable for F-16 fighters.

Fighters such as the F-16 are now very much needed in Ukraine, as they can protect civilians. Thanks to fighters such as the F-16s, Russian pilots will no longer be able to cross Ukrainian airspace.

The territory of Ukraine is so vast that it is impossible to deploy as many ground-based air defense systems as necessary to cover it effectively. To cover these gaps, we need fighters.

Incidentally, according to Golubtsov, F-16s have already landed at Ukrainian airbases. The US F-16 manufacturer has previously assessed the runways at three Ukrainian airbases and confirmed that they can be used for modern fighters.
