The AFU is preparing for an offensive on the Kherson direction - Urshalovich
In the Kherson direction, the Defence Forces are conducting reconnaissance operations and preparing for an offensive.
Colonel Mykola Urshalovich, deputy director of the Department of Planning for Application of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine, said this at a briefing.
In the Kherson direction, the Defence Forces continue to put pressure on the enemy, active reconnaissance and fire defeat is carried out to the full depth of the enemy's defence in order to prepare areas and boundaries for offensive actions, - said the representative of the National Guard.
According to him, Ukrainian reconnaissance units have detected 393 enemy targets over the last period. Part of which was destroyed thanks to the co-operation of the AFU and the SBU.
Earlier, Colonel Mykola Urshalovich reported that during the last week the AFU advanced by 1.7 kilometres in the Melitopol direction. The Institute for the Study of War believes that Ukraine has regained 253 square kilometres of territory since the beginning of the counter-offensive on 4 June. It is known that offensive actions are being carried out in the Bakhmut, Melitopol and Berdyansk directions.
