Just 11 minutes of physical activity a day has a positive impact on health
Everyone has been in a situation in their life where they don't have the time or energy for a proper workout, in which case most people put off physical activity until later, believing that a short warm-up won't work. But scientists think otherwise.
Researchers at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom recently analysed 196 studies involving more than 30 million adult participants, observed for an average of 10 years. This is reported by CNN.
Study participants performed the minimum recommended amount of exercise - 150 minutes a week, or 22 minutes a day.
As a result, people who did the minimum amount of physical activity per week had a 31% lower risk of dying from any cause, a 29% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and a 15% lower risk of dying from cancer. The same amount of exercise was associated with a 27% lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease and a 12% lower risk of cancer.
It is noted that 75 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week, or about 11 minutes of activity per day in the study, was associated with a 23% reduction in the risk of early death.
What's more, 75 minutes of weekly activity was also enough to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by 17% and cancer by 7%.
if you find the idea of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity a week somewhat daunting, our findings should be good news, said study author Dr Soren Brahe, head of the US Physical Activity Epidemiology Group.
And he also noted that moderate physical activity can encourage a gradual increase in exercise.
