Detectives of the Economic Security Bureau of Ukraine have exposed officials who were siphoning unaccounted ethyl alcohol from a distillery in Zhytomyr Region.
For this purpose, they used special equipment and worked outside working hours. This is reported by the press service of the BEB.
Detectives found that the alcohol was siphoned out of the factory with the help of a cut-in pipe, bypassing the alcohol meter - approximately 10 tonnes per day," the press service said.
Unaccounted products were stored in a warehouse nearby and sold throughout Ukraine.
According to the results of searches detectives BEB seized from the illegal turnover of liquid with a characteristic odour of alcohol, vehicles, draft records and financial and economic documentation of the enterprise.
The approximate value of the seized goods is 10 million hryvnias. Now the losses caused by clandestine production of alcohol are being established.
Information about possible assistance to illegal activities of employees of one of the regulatory bodies is being worked out, - reported the BEB.
The BEB detectives also initiated the cancellation of the licence for the production of ethyl alcohol and an official inspection of the employees of the State Tax Service regarding the improper performance of their functional duties at the location of the tax post.
