The first underground school will be built in Ukraine

Even in the face of a missile attack, the school will be able to operate.

Kharkiv will build the country's first underground school, which will be able to keep the educational process going during a missile attack. This was reported by Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov in his official Telegram channel.

We are planning to build the first underground school in Ukraine, which will meet the most modern regulatory requirements for protective structures, - he informed.

According to him, the shelter will allow thousands of children to continue to study full-time even during missile attacks. Terekhov pointed out that the school will be designed for 450 children and will be located in the Industrial district of the city.

Terekhov pointed out that the construction of the school will begin this year, and it is planned to be erected in a few months.

Terekhov also said at a meeting with teachers that the region would not cut spending on the education system in 2024 despite the existing budget deficit.

Kharkiv is 40 km away from the Russian border, and due to constant shelling at the beginning of the war, children were transferred to remote education.
