Ukraine will no longer have geographical names linked to Russia
on 21 March, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No 7253 on geographic names.
"248 deputies voted in favour and 1 voted against.
The draft law proposes to amend the Law of Ukraine "On geographical names" regarding decolonization of toponymy and regulation of the use of geographical names in Ukrainian settlements by prohibiting to assign geographical objects that glorify, perpetuate, promote or symbolize the occupant state or its prominent monuments.
This means that in the future all pro-Russian names of streets, cities and other objects should be renamed.
