In St. Petersburg, an unknown man beat up an Arab journalist for speaking in a language other than Russian
The journalist who beat up Al Jazeera Arabic journalist at the PMC Wagner Centre faces prison.
Palestinian journalist Rania Dridi of Al Jazeera Arabic was beaten up at the PMC Wagner Centre on Zolnaya Street in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on the night of August 25. According to local media, an unidentified man hit the 41-year-old woman on the head and walked away.
The journalist was filming a report outside the PMC Wagner Centre in the evening of August 24. At one point, a man approached her and demanded to speak in Russian instead of Arabic. He prevented her from doing live coverage and then beat her up," the press reported.
According to journalists, the woman received a concussion, a closed head injury and a bruise. The attacker hit her in the right temple.
The journalist said that the attacker was of Slavic appearance and demanded that she speak Russian. At the time of the attack, the unidentified man was wearing a black jacket and jeans.
