Russia arrests woman for first time for donating to AFU
The woman has been remanded in custody for two months. Her identity has not been disclosed.
This is the first known case when financial aid to Ukraine becomes grounds for a case of treason, the BBC has said, citing the human rights project First Division.
That is to say, this is the first criminal case in Russia under the article "treason" for donations to the Armed Forces.
It is known. that the suspect was detained in Moscow "while trying to leave the Russian Federation", the Russian FSB said.
The publication, citing human rights activists, said that the FSB had previously conducted a "search of the premises" on several occasions - actually a search, but without launching a criminal case - of many people who supported the Ukrainian foundations.
Also, the Russian Prosecutor-General's Office warned last February that providing financial and other assistance to a foreign state would be qualified as state treason and punishable by up to 20 years, the BBC said.
