In Poland, a Ukrainian knocked down a pedestrian, he died
The motorist was driving on an unlit section of the road.
In Poland, in the Lublin Voivodeship, on a section of the road between the settlements of Komarnia and Kostyantyniv, a 37-year-old Ukrainian driver knocked down a pedestrian who was not wearing reflective clothing. The InPoland portal tells about it.
The victim was a local 54-year-old resident. He died after being taken to the hospital.
Andrzej Fijolek, spokesman for the police headquarters in Lublin, clarified that the Ukrainian was sober at the time of the accident.
The accident happened on a section of the highway that has no lighting, he stressed.
As a reminder, from January 1, 2022, stricter traffic rules and higher fines for drivers came into force in Poland.
Under the new rules, the maximum fine for traffic violations on Polish roads has been increased from PLN 5,000 (EUR 1,080) to PLN 30,000 (EUR 6,500). Drivers who do not let pedestrians pass at the crossing face a fine of at least PLN 3,000 (€660). And the minimum fine for exceeding the speed limit by more than 30 kilometers per hour is currently PLN 800 (€170).
