House where Ukrainian refugees were living burned down in Poland

Temporary accommodation has been organised for Ukrainians.

A house in which refugees from Ukraine were living was on fire in the Polish village of Wszcieście near Słupsk (Pomeranian Voivodeship), Polsat News has reported.

It is reported that 33 Ukrainians lived in part of this house. 31 people were in the house at the time of the fire. another woman was missing as she had gone to pick up her child at school

The fire engulfed the entire building. 15 fire brigades extinguished the fire. None of the house residents were injured.

According to Captain Yvona Lenart of the fire brigade, the structure of the building has suffered significant damage and is no longer habitable

The Słupsk municipality, on whose territory the burned building is located, said it would provide Ukrainians with necessary items, such as blankets, towels and basic necessities, and a fundraiser for the victims will also be announced.

The head of the commune, Barbara Dicker, said that the owner of the building had promised to arrange overnight accommodation for the refugees, otherwise "the authorities will find a place for them"

The cause of the fire was not reported. The police said a thorough inspection of the area would be carried out, as well as an examination involving a police technician and a fire expert.
