The NYT has predicted the real purpose of Putin's address to the Federal Assembly

Putin may soon mobilise hundreds of thousands more men on top of the 300,000 he has already recruited.

"The New York Times, citing US intelligence officials, writes:

In his (Federal Assembly) address, Putin is likely to double down on his strategy in Ukraine. He will again claim to be saving not only Ukraine from "Nazism", but also Russia from NATO.

The NYT piece also reports:

US intelligence officials say they are detecting signs that he may soon mobilise more Russians into the army, adding hundreds of thousands to the 300,000 already drafted.

Earlier, US President Joe Biden, during his visit to Kiev, said tough days, weeks and years ahead, Putin's goal is to wipe Ukraine off the map.
