Defence Ministry told why Russian Federation is attacking Odessa ports
Almost daily Russian attacks on Odessa Region's ports are linked to the Russian Federation's desire to independently trade in grain stolen in Ukraine.
This opinion was voiced by a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, Andriy Yusov, in a commentary for Military Media Center.
According to him, the Russian shelling of Ukrainian ports is a blatant terror for the sake of which the aggressor invents non-existent military goals. Yusov noted that the purpose of the constant shelling of ports is "direct destruction of the Ukrainian port infrastructure and Ukrainian food reserves in order to complicate the resumption of the work of the grain corridor in the future".
Thus, Putin publicly declares that the task is set for the aggressor state to work directly with African and Asian countries to supply grain, including stolen Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territories," Andrey Yusov said.
He also added that the enemy seeks to sow panic among the civilian population of Ukraine, but has not achieved the desired goal.
We shall remind you that during one of the massive Russian shelling of ports in Odessa Region, 60,000 tonnes of grain were destroyed. This grain was stored in the Chernomorsk port and was intended for delivery abroad.
The UN estimated that the Russian Federation destroyed 24m tonnes of Ukrainian food during the active shelling.
