When the state needs to pay back subsidies
Overpaid housing benefit must be repaid in two cases.
This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFA).
The Pension Fund explains that the legislation stipulates only two cases when an overpaid subsidy is returned to the state:
- when inaccurate information was stated in the application or declaration and this affected the establishment of the right to housing subsidy and the determination of its amount, which as a result exceeded 10 non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (170 hryvnia);
- when a person has failed to report the circumstances affecting the review of eligibility for housing subsidy or its amount within 30 calendar days from the date of its occurrence.
It is also noted that in the case of assignment of housing subsidy for the next period, the authorized body may include the amount of overpaid housing subsidy in the payment of monthly amounts of subsidy. In this case, current payments may be reduced by no more than 20 per cent.
