State Emergency Service tells how much of Ukraine's territory is mined
Thirty percent of Ukraine is mined because of the Russian invasion. In terms of area, it's like two Austria.
During an all-Ukrainian telethon, the chairman of the State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Kruk, said:
The area and volume of mined territory in Ukraine has increased by a factor of 10 compared to the pre-war period.
According to him, the de-occupied territories in Kherson and Mykolayiv regions are actively being cleared of explosive objects:
More than 8 thousand square kilometres are to be demined here, of which about 7 thousand is the territory of Kherson region and up to 1.5 thousand - Mykolaiv region. In the de-occupied territories of these regions in cooperation with military-civil administrations, a significant number of pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service works. The Head of the State Emergency Service added that a significant number of specialists of the Service have been sent to Kherson and Mykolaiv regions from the western regions of Ukraine: engineering and emergency units that survey the roads, interact with the energy sector, disassemble and inspect the objects that are put into operation.
