The State Emergency Service explained what to do if during the shelling they did not manage to run to the shelter

If a well-equipped shelter is far away, you can hide in the house at a critical moment.

Rescuers told what to do if during the shelling and explosions, you did not have time to run to the shelter. This was reported to the State Emergency Service .

They noted that if during the air raid you did not have time to run to the shelter, immediately go to a room without windows or use the "two-wall rule" (there should be at least two walls between a person and the street, and even more is better. The first wall takes the force of the explosion - a window or the entire wall can collapse. The second wall takes on the fragments).

Thus, the safest place in the house is a room behind two walls from a windowless street. It can be a corridor, a hallway or a bathroom if it is inside the apartment. And the most dangerous rooms are the side ones. Also unsafe on the upper floors.

If there is a fire or damage to the house, immediately call 101, indicate your exact address, floor, floor, apartment. And if possible, move to a safe place, the rescuers advised.

They also noted that it is desirable to appoint a responsible person among the community of the house, who would have information about all the residents: how many of them are in the house, in what apartments they are located.

Whether it is safe on stairwells depends on the type of house. Monolithic-frame houses have strong walls and a lot of fittings; you can hide in them in the stairwell or in the entrance. But panel houses are not so stable.

What shelters are not considered safe

Many official hideouts are unsuitable for a real threat. This is especially true for the basements of residential buildings. Some shelters will not only not save you during the war, but may even become your grave. A safe shelter must meet several requirements.

  • The shelter must have at least two exits on opposite walls. If a fire or blockage occurs at one of the exits, then people can get out through the second. If the conditions are not met, people will be trapped.
  • The shelter should have independent water supply and ventilation, which does not depend on electricity in the house.
