Monument to Ukrainian soldier shot for saying "Glory to Ukraine" unveiled in Georgia

In Tbilisi, a monument was erected to TRO fighter and Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Matsievskyy, who was shot by Russian invaders for saying "Glory to Ukraine!".

This was reported by Ukrinform on social network X (former Twitter).

Journalists published a photo of the monument and noted that it was located in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.

We shall remind you that in March 2023, social networks started circulating a video showing Russians executing an unarmed Ukrainian soldier. In the video, the soldier said "Glory to Ukraine" and a moment later he was shot.

It later became known that the killed soldier is Alexander Macievsky, who was a sniper. In December 2022, Matsievsky's fire support company was sent to the area near the village of Krasnaya Hora, which had already been occupied by the enemy. During the battle, communication with the group of fighters was lost.

The bodies of Oleksandr Matsievskyi and two of his fellow soldiers were brought home and returned to Ukraine in February 2023. Macievsky is buried in the cemetery in Nizhyn.
