Belarus launches new military exercise with Russia

The Russian-Belarusian exercise will last from 16 January to 1 February.

This was reported by the Belarusian Defence Ministry in Telegram.

On 16 January, Belarus will host joint flight and tactical exercises of aviation units of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia.

The Russian side is represented by a military unit of the aerospace forces. The main purpose of the exercise is to improve interoperability in the joint implementation of combat training tasks.

The following manoeuvres will be conducted during the exercise:

  • aerial reconnaissance;
  • joint patrolling of the airspace along the state border;
  • air support to groupings of troops;
  • the landing of tactical airborne troops;
  • delivery of supplies and evacuation of the wounded.

The report also notes that all airfields and training ranges of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus will be involved in the exercise.

The exercise will tentatively last from 16 January to 1 February.
