Ukrainian powerlifter Andrey Dmitriev died defending Ukraine
Andrei Dmitriev was fatally wounded in one of the battles.
Contact with Andrei broke off on New Year's Eve.
Dmitriev was a multiple Ukrainian champion and international competitor. He was a master of sport in strongman and powerlifting. Before the war, he was head of the Sumy branch of the The Ukrainian Strongman Federation.
The Ukrainian Strongman Federation (FSU) said on social media:
Our Strongman family has suffered an irreparable loss. Andrei died near Bakhmut. We will remember you my friend! The flag will be raised in your honour at the competitions! We sympathise and mourn with his family and friends.
