Ukraine ranked among the three most dangerous countries in the world

Global stability continues to deteriorate, with rising political instability, increased conflict and deaths from violence, analysts said.

When it comes to choosing a holiday destination, safety always comes first. This is why the Global Peace Index was developed, which annually assesses 163 countries on a number of factors, from crime rates to military conflicts. In the report for 2025, prepared by the International Institute for Economics & Peace (Institute for Economics & Peace) from Australia, Ukraine was in second place among the most insecure countries in the world.

The security ranking is based on several factors, such as internal and external armed conflicts, crime rates, terrorist activity, stability of the political system and military spending. In 2025, the Middle East and North Africa are the least secure regions of the world, followed by South Asia. In contrast, Western and Central Europe were recognised as the most peaceful regions.

In the current report, the number of active armed conflicts at the state level reached a record high of 59, the highest number since World War II.
