Ukraine and Poland develop measures to unblock the border
Representatives of the Ukrainian Restoration Ministry and the Polish Infrastructure Ministry have met in Warsaw to discuss the blocking of the Ukrainian border by Polish carriers.
The parties have agreed on solutions to improve the situation on the border. This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure.
In particular, it was agreed to open the Uhryniv-Dolhobychev checkpoint for the passage of empty lorries, which will increase the capacity of the border and reduce the load on other checkpoints.
Innovations are also planned in the єCherga system:
- Creation of separate passes for empty vehicles at the checkpoints Jagodin - Dorohusk and Krakovec Korcheva. These checkpoints are chosen because there are physical lanes for empty vehicles on the Ukrainian and Polish sides.
- The launch of a pilot project of registration before crossing the border at the checkpoint "Nizhankovichi - Malhowice" for a period of one month.
The ministry noted that the meeting did not discuss one of the main demands of Polish hauliers - cancellation and changes in the "transport visa-free zone".
Polish protesters insist on the functioning of "Ugryniv - Dolgobychiv" and "Nizhankovichi - Malhowice" only for EU-registered transport. This position is unacceptable for Ukraine and the European Union, as it is a discriminatory norm against other countries. The latter was confirmed during the meeting of the Ukraine-Poland-EU Coordination Platform with the participation of the leadership of the European Commission's Directorate for Transport and Mobility (DG MOVE) on 30 November," the statement said.
Work is continuing on strategic solutions to resolve the situation at the Ukrainian border, which will help settle the situation with queues and reduce tension in the issue of road transport.
