Pietz noted that almost all sexually mature men are at risk.

All sexually mature men over the age of 18 are at risk. Now the disease is much "younger" and occurs even at the age of 17, she said.

The doctor stressed that prostatitis should not be started, otherwise it can turn into a chronic form and then push the development of a number of other ailments in the body.

The main sign of incipient prostatitis is frequent urination, frequent urination. An equally obvious and common symptom is a deterioration in erection and a general sexual disorder.

Prostatitis in men can be acute and chronic, and depending on the causes of the appearance, it can be bacterial and non-bacterial. Based on this, the main causes of prostatitis in men can be:

  • Bacteria that enter the prostate gland through the urethra, through the bloodstream, lymph;
  • Violations of the rhythm of sexual life;
  • Reduced immunity;
  • Sexually transmitted infections (gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, etc.);
  • Injuries of organs and tissues of the small pelvis.

Factors associated with the appearance of prostatitis may also be:

  • hypothermia;
  • Bad habits;
  • Passive lifestyle;
  • Unbalanced diet;
  • Lack of vitamins in the diet.

You should consult a urologist if the following signs of prostatitis in men appear:

  • Frequent urination;
  • painful urination;
  • Weak pressure of urine and pain;
  • Painful defecation;
  • Erectile dysfunction;
  • Burning in urethra;
  • The content of fibrous or bloody impurities in the urine;
  • Accelerated ejaculation or prolonged erection;
  • Decreased potency and general fatigue.

The doctor added that men should undergo an annual examination by a urologist with an examination for STIs (sexually transmitted infections).

To protect herself from the disease, Pietz recommended to have regular sex life - 1-3 per week, and also to be physically active.

The doctor explained that long-term retention meant ejaculation less than once a week.
