Tusk says Europe does not have to love Ukraine
Europe's future depends on whether Ukraine can resist the aggressor - Tusk.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said that the best defence of Polish and European borders is to support Ukraine. At the same time, he said that it was not necessary to love Ukraine or even feel any sympathy for it. The politician said this before the meetings in the Baltic-Scandinavian format, Radio Liberty reports.
There is no need to love Ukraine, no loud words about solidarity and reconciliation. Cold and simple interest is enough to continue helping Ukraine. And if, perhaps, America withdraws major support for Ukraine, it doesn't mean that Europe should do the same. Quite the contrary, because it is in our interest that Ukraine endures and emerges victorious from this confrontation with Russia," Tusk said.
He emphasised that Poland and Europe would be much safer if Ukraine was independent, strong and ready to further counter Russian aggression:.
Sentiment does not matter here. Only cold calculation," the politician pointed out.
We would like to point out that Poland is preparing a 45-package support package for Ukraine and has already started working on the next defence package.
