Trump to Iran: you can do better with honey than vinegar
US President Donald Trump has urged Iran's leadership to change course and choose the path of peace.
US President Donald Trump, in an address on the Truth Social network, urged Iran's leadership to opt for "honey" rather than "vinegar" - a peaceful and constructive approach to returning to the global community. He emphasised that only a soft and diplomatic policy can lead the country to success and prosperity.
I would like Iran's leadership to understand: you will achieve much more with honey than with vinegar. PEACE!", Trump stated.
The US president criticised Tehran's current course, noting its "disastrous results".
Iran is always showing anger and aggression - and what has it brought them? A ruined, burnt country with no future, a defeated army, a collapsed economy and death that is everywhere," the American leader wrote.
Trump also revealed that he had previously attempted to lift sanctions against Iran, but stopped when confronted with "angry, hate-filled and disgusted statements" from the Iranian leadership.
The military conflict between Israel and Iran erupted from 13 to 24 June. The IDF launched the operation suspecting that Iran was close to developing nuclear weapons. Tehran denied the allegations and began striking Israeli targets.
On the night of 22 June, the US joined the conflict by launching pinpoint strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities. In response, Iranian forces attacked a US military base in Qatar.
Prior to the conflict, Washington and Tehran had been negotiating a new nuclear deal that could reduce tensions.
on 24 June, Donald Trump announced that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire agreement, both sides confirmed. He said US strikes had significantly undermined Tehran's nuclear programmes.
