Trump congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day: America respects your struggle

US President Donald Trump has addressed Ukrainians with congratulations on Independence Day, stressing that America believes in Ukraine's future as a free and sovereign state. The letter of the American leader was published by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
In his message, Trump noted the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people.
The people of Ukraine have an indestructible spirit, and the courage of your country inspires many. On this important day, know that the United States respects your struggle, honours your sacrifices and believes in your future as an independent state," he wrote.
Separately, the US President touched on the Russian-Ukrainian war, emphasising the need to end it.
It is time to put an end to senseless killing. The United States supports a negotiated settlement that will ensure a lasting and lasting peace, end the bloodshed and protect Ukraine's sovereignty and dignity," Trump added.
Zelensky thanked Trump for his support and for the fact that the U.S. stands "shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, defending the most precious things - independence, freedom and guaranteed peace."
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mark Rubio also sent his congratulations to Ukrainians. His address also spoke about Russia's war against Ukraine and expressed hope for further strengthening of economic and defence partnership for the sake of a peaceful future of the two nations.
