There was an explosion in Rivne city centre: police said it was a terrorist attack
On Thursday, March 20, there was an explosion in the centre of Rivne.
An improvised explosive device, which was transported in one of the cars, exploded near one of the city's shopping and entertainment centres. This was reported by the Rivne Region police.
According to the police, the incident is qualified as a terrorist act. The explosion occurred at about 13:40 on Kievskaya street. As a result of the explosion injured the driver and a passenger - they were hospitalised. An investigation and operational team worked at the scene, and explosion technicians examined the area.
Investigators of the SBU launched a pre-trial investigation under Articles 258 (terrorist act) and 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Currently, measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify the persons involved in the explosion.
In addition, there was an explosion in Kiev on 18 March, the debris of which fell on the territory of one of the schools in Desnyanskyi district. According to Kiev mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, emergency services have arrived at the scene to carry out rescue operations and to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. There is no information about the injured yet.
