The whereabouts of captured human rights defender Maksim Butkevich have not been known since August

There is no information about the whereabouts of Maksym Butkevich after the session of the appeal court in the Russian Federation, which took place on 22 August 2023. This was reported by Maksym Butkevich's father to Hromadske Radio.

Requests of the lawyer in the case of Leonid Soloviev to the relevant authorities of the Russian Federation were ignored.

Lawyer Leonid Solovyov has not received any response to his requests about Maksim's whereabouts. In Russia, all legally legalised norms as well as human rights are completely ignored. For example, Maksim has the right, as a convicted person (after the sentence of the "court"), to correspondence, but the letters and parcels sent to him by his friends were returned to them with the note "Correspondence is not allowed," said Alexander Butkevich.

Lawyer Leonid Solovyov once again stressed that the case was fabricated in the Russian Federation and Butkevich was not guilty in it.

He is a completely innocent man. He should either be exchanged or acquitted," the lawyer stressed.

We will remind, last year Maxim Butkevich fell into Russian captivity. After which the Ukrainian human rights activist was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
