The third combat brigade "Gart" of the State Border Guard Service was created on Border Guard Day
The Border Guard's Stalewy Cordon and Pomsta Offensive Guard units and combat brigades continue to beat the enemy on the frontline.
The newly created third combat brigade of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Gart, has joined the Ukrainian Defence Forces on the eastern borders. This was announced by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko on 30 April.
Today, 30 April, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Border Guard, a professional holiday of the defenders of our borders.
It is symbolic today to announce the creation of the third combat brigade of the State Border Service - "Gart", the soldiers of which are already strengthening the Defence Forces on the eastern borders, - wrote the Minister.
He stressed that the border guards bravely showed themselves in the battles in 2014 and so far the border guard units and the formed combat brigades of the Offensive Guards "Stalevyi cordon" and "Pomsta" continue to beat the enemy at the front.
The defence of Zmeiny Island, Mariupol, the battle for Kiev, the liberation from the occupiers of the North and Kharkiv region are only a part of the heroic resistance that continues to this day. This is a difficult but honourable path that leads us to the goal of reaching the borders of 1991. To a safe and peaceful Ukraine, - Klymenko noted.
He thanked the border guards for their professionalism and endurance, honesty and fighting stubbornness, for their faith in Ukraine.
We will remind, in March, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill that provides for an increase in the number of the State Border Guard Service after the war.
The need to increase the number of border guards is conditioned by the need to form and build up the combat reserves of the State Border Guard Service as part of the defence forces.
