The United States remains Ukraine's biggest supporter in the world and will provide Kiev with as much assistance as it needs.

The United States remains committed to providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine, including arms supplies. This was stated by State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a briefing commenting on the possible impact of Donald Trump's recent statements about Vladimir Putin on the US foreign policy course.

According to Bruce, the short-term pause in arms deliveries to Kiev was solely due to a procedural review of existing military assistance programmes. She stressed that this does not signal a change in Washington's position. As before, the USA is ready to support Ukraine in its right to self-defence.

Bruce noted separately that Donald Trump is determined to provide Kyiv with the necessary means to repel aggression, especially in view of the escalation of violence and the need to reach a ceasefire. She assured that US support remains stable and does not depend on short-term political factors.

Earlier, the US Defence Department said that it had decided to send additional defensive weapons to Ukraine. According to Axios sources, it is about ten Patriot interceptor missiles, as well as pressure on Germany to transfer one of its SAM batteries to Ukraine.
