The situation in Dobropillya: the AFU General Staff told how things are with the Russian offensive

The Ukrainian defence forces are holding their positions and inflicting losses on Russian troops in the Dobropillya and Pokrovskiy directions. The speaker of the AFU General Staff, Major Andriy Kovalyov, said that the situation in the Dobropillya area was gradually stabilising. According to him, the military are taking all necessary measures to identify and destroy enemy units.

By decision of the AFU Commander-in-Chief, additional forces and means have been redeployed to the problematic areas of the front. The 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov", as well as related and subordinate units are actively participating in the battles.

Over the past two days, 151 Russian servicemen were killed in the corps' area of responsibility, more than 70 were wounded, and 8 more were taken prisoner. Kovalev stressed that Ukrainian units continue search and strike actions, which allows to keep the situation under control.

Earlier, the DeepState project reported on the advance of Russian troops in the northern section between Dobropillya and Druzhkivka. According to their data, if the pace of fighting continues, Dobropillya could be under the threat of capture earlier than Pokrovsk.

The General Staff confirmed that the situation remains difficult, but sporadic penetrations of small enemy groups behind the first line of defence do not mean control over the territory.

Enemy tactics

According to military sources, the Russian infantry has advanced from Novotoretskoye to Kucherov Yar, Vesyoloye and Zolotoy Kolodets. At the same time, the enemy is trying to reach the Dobropillya-Kramatorsk motorway near Novovodyanoye and Petrovka.

Experts note that this is more about infiltration of small units rather than a full-scale breakthrough. The situation is complicated by the rugged terrain with a dense network of mines.

Prospects

It is possible that the Russian troops' further goal is to consolidate their hold on the captured points, build up their grouping and expand their flanks of the incursion.

Viktor Tregubov, the speaker of the Dnipro OSGV, noted that the recorded advances are of a localised nature. According to him, the protrusions marked on the maps reflect the enemy's movement route rather than the territory actually controlled by the enemy. Now these groups are being detected and destroyed by the Ukrainian military.
