The European Commission reacted to the participation of DPRK troops in the war on the side of Russia

RIA Novosti

on 28 April, the DPRK confirmed its participation in the battles near Kursk.

The European Commission said that military cooperation between Russia and North Korea shows the growing desperation of the Kremlin, which is isolated and weakened by sanctions. This statement was made by European Commission speaker Anitta Gipper at a briefing on 28 April, reports European Pravda.

Russia remains "weak and isolated," including because of European sanctions, so the Kremlin is forced to turn for support to such regimes as North Korea, - said the speaker of the European Commission.

She said the deepening military co-operation between Moscow and Pyongyang shows that Russia is not interested in establishing peace.

On the contrary, Russia's goal is to suppress Ukraine. The Kremlin is desperately seeking any possible support to continue its illegal aggression, including from actors that seriously undermine and destabilise global peace and security," Gipper stressed.

She added that the European Commission intends to continue its efforts to increase pressure on Moscow, including by working on the 17th package of sanctions against Russia and supporting Ukraine.

We would like to point out that the Central Military Commission of the Labour Party of the DPRK confirmed the participation of its armed forces in the Russian-Ukrainian war. In particular, it recognised the participation of DPRK troops in the battles in the Kursk region.

According to the statement, North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un independently decided to send military aid to Russia in accordance with Article 4 of the agreement on "comprehensive strategic partnership" concluded between the DPRK and the Russian Federation, which he informed the Russian side about.
