The Czech Republic has called for the country's withdrawal from the UN
The minister believes the Czech Republic should withdraw from the UN, which she believes "supports terrorists".
Czech Defence Minister Jana Černohová has called for the country's withdrawal from the United Nations after the General Assembly adopted an anti-Israel resolution. The politician made the corresponding statement on her Twitter (X).
In particular, she strongly condemned the UN resolution, which calls for a "truce" between Israel and Hamas and does not condemn the militants' actions.
The minister said such a document is "support for terrorists."
I am ashamed of the UN. In my opinion, the Czech Republic has no place in an organisation that supports terrorists and does not respect the fundamental right to self-defence. I propose to withdraw from it," the Minister stressed.
We shall remind you that on Friday, 27 October, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on the conflict in the Middle East. The draft document was prepared by Jordan and more than 40 other countries. The resolution was not supported by 14 countries, including the Czech Republic. Another 45 countries abstained, in particular Ukraine.
The UN resolution condemns violence against Palestinians and Israelis and calls for a humanitarian truce and the release of hostages.
