The AFU told about a laser weapon that strikes objects at a certain height
Ukraine has laser technology that can already hit certain targets at certain altitudes.
The commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of Ukraine, Vadym Sukharevskyy, has reported significant achievements of the country in the field of laser technologies, which can already hit certain targets at a certain altitude. In an interview withRadio Liberty, he emphasised that the Unmanned Systems Force is actively developing, which is one of the key tasks of the agency.
According to Sukharevsky, "RND is an innovative activity of the command, which includes several directions. One of them is the fight against enemy airframes, including finding solutions to counter the Shaheds. This has led us to commands that are actively engaged in the development of laser technology." He added that laser systems are already capable of hitting objects at certain altitudes, saying:
Yes, I will repeat - laser technologies are now already hitting certain objects at certain heights.
An example of such technologies is the Ukrainian laser weapon called "Trident. " Sukharevsky noted that it demonstrates unique capabilities, including the ability to shoot down aircraft at an altitude of more than 2 kilometres.
Today Ukraine is, if I am not mistaken, the fifth country in the world that can say it has laser weapons. It really works, and we can shoot down aircraft with this laser," the colonel said.
This achievement allows Ukraine to take its place among the world leaders with high-tech weaponry, as similar systems are in service with only a few countries. Thus, the development of laser technology in Ukraine underscores its influence in the international arena and its readiness to employ modern defence and attack capabilities in conflict.
