Some Russian wrestlers were not allowed to participate in the Olympics - Belenyuk
Zhan Beleniuk said that athletes who support Russia should not be able to participate in international competitions.
TheInternational Olympic Committee does not allow athletes who support the war to compete, but the IOC has not yet announced clear criteria for such support. Ukraine will co-operate with the IOC to develop these criteria and to monitor their observance. This was announced by MP Zhan Belenyuk.
The developed criteria must meet the interests of Ukraine. Those people who supported or support the war, who have been identified as participants in propaganda events, for example, standing near Putin and glorifying the Russian authorities and their leader, should not be able to participate in international competitions, - said Beleniuk.
He said he has information that some Russian wrestlers have already been blocked. They are now "confused and do not know what to do," as they were planning to take part in the Olympic Games, but such an opportunity is still closed.
According to the MP, it is necessary to continue working in this direction, to communicate with the IOC, to prove and show how certain athletes of the aggressor country have shown themselves.
Representatives of our national federations are now actively engaged in this. Definitely those athletes who participated in propaganda events cannot be called neutral in any way. They should be blocked access from international tournaments," Beleniuk concluded.
