Therapy dogs will be trained in Transcarpathia

The Cynological Centre of the Transcarpathian Police will train therapy dogs, with which war veterans will be able to receive psycho-emotional help.

In Transcarpathia presented a new project to support war veterans in the fight against psychological traumas involving dogs. This is reported by the National Police.

The relevant memorandum of co-operation was signed by the chairman of the Transcarpathian OVA, the head of the Transcarpathian police and the head of the Yarema foundation.

During three months the best cynologists of the police of Transcarpathian region will work with the dogs . After that they will be handed over to veterans who will be rehabilitated with the animals.

Veterans will be able to come to the cynology centre, where the cynologists will tell the new owners how to care for the animals, how to communicate with them and other necessary points, - said the head of the police in Transcarpathia Yaroslav Kolesnik.

The project aimed at psycho-emotional rehabilitation with the use of canister therapy methods, when dogs are transferred to the ownership of soldiers, is being applied in Ukraine for the first time.

The programme can be used by war veterans who were wounded, lost their families and need psycho-emotional support. Those wishing to undergo rehabilitation by canister therapy method should register on the portal "Help Zakarpattya".

Afterwards, specialists will communicate with the applicants, make a selection to choose the persons who are most in need of such rehabilitation.
