Media: law enforcers detained Girkin-Strelkov in Russia
In the Russian Federation, Igor Strelkov (real name Hyrkin), who is known for his commitment to the war, was detained on a tip-off from one of the Wagnerites.
This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda with reference to the Russian mass media and Strelkov's wife.
on 21 July, it became known that Russian law enforcers had detained Igor Strelkov. This information was confirmed to the Russian mass media by sources in law-enforcement agencies and the detainee's lawyer.
It is reported that law enforcers took Strelkov from his home around noon. Investigative Committee officers are conducting a search in his flat," the UP reported.
"It is likely that the detention occurred on a tip-off from a former mercenary of the PPK Wagner."
Later, Strelkov's wife Miroslava Reginskaya wrote in Telegram that she was not at home at the time of the detention. However, the concierge said that representatives of the Investigative Committee led Strelkov out of the house under his arms.
I managed to find out from friends that my husband is charged under Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code (extremism)," Strelkov's wife wrote.
UP journalists note that the day before in his Telegram channel Strelkov published a message in which he called the "Wagnerites" professionally untenable. And earlier, on 18 July, he criticized Vladimir Putin.
It is worth noting that Igor Strelkov - in the past worked in the FSB. He also participated in the battles for Slovyansk and in the seizure of power in Donetsk. He actively supports the war in Ukraine, but criticises the Russian authorities.
