Deadly summer: because of the unprecedented heat in Spain killed thousands of people

Last summer literally killed about 4,600 Spaniards with its high temperatures. Most deaths due to abnormally high temperatures over the summer were in the autonomous community of Madrid (1,292), followed by Castile and León (576) and Catalonia (575).
