Shmygal said how much money Ukraine will receive in 2024 from the EU

A portion of the funds will be used to rebuild the country.

The European Union's financial assistance to Ukraine in 2024 is expected to amount to 16bn euros. This is a four-year Ukraine Facility programme. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal.

He pointed out that the total budget of the programme is 50 billion euros.

This is support for investments, support for our economy and our movement towards EU membership. This year, we expect to receive 16 billion euros of budgetary assistance from the European Union," the prime minister said.

He also said that on 1 March, the government approved with the European Commission a "programme of support for reforms and recovery". The agreement stipulates that the programme's total budget will be increased to 374 million euros.

The money will be used to rebuild the destroyed infrastructure, to support small farms and other agricultural producers, as well as to modernise the border crossing points bordering the EU border.

We would like to point out that the UN believes that Ukraine will need 486bn dollars to recover from the devastation caused by the war in the next 10 years. The highest recovery and reconstruction needs are in the housing stock (17 per cent of the total amount), transport sector (15 per cent), trade and industry (14 per cent). Across all sectors, the cost of debris removal and disposal alone is nearly $11 billion.
