Several thousand people have already signed up for the Ukrainian Legion in Poland
Several thousand Ukrainians have already registered in the Ukrainian Legion in Poland.
Several thousand Ukrainians in Poland have already registered to participate in the new volunteer military unit Ukrainian Legion, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said. Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said this, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
In Poland, we are starting to prepare the first Ukrainian brigade consisting of volunteers in Poland. We have up to a million Ukrainians of both sexes, and several thousand of them have already registered for this draft. And what is interesting is that many of them really want to serve and rotate their compatriots, but they say: we don't want to be sent into combat without being properly trained and equipped," the minister said.
Sikorski said that Poland would equip and train the volunteers and then the unit would be given to Ukraine with the right to return to Poland after rotation.
If every European country did this, Ukraine would have several brigades," Sikorski said.
The recently signed security agreement between Ukraine and Poland envisages the creation of a volunteer legion in Poland.
Also Defence Minister Rustem Umerov called on all Ukrainians who are in Europe to join the Ukrainian Legion.
Earlier, Socialportal reported that Poland would not shoot down Russian missiles and drones in the skies over Ukraine without the consent of all NATO members.
