Da Vinci killed in action today - Zelensky
Dmytro Kotsyubaylo, call sign "Da Vinci", is a Ukrainian soldier, the first volunteer to be awarded the title Hero of Ukraine in his lifetime.
Dmytro was born on 1 November 1995 in Ivano-Frankivsk region. Since 2014, he defended Ukraine. At 18, he joined the armed forces. First he was a volunteer platoon commander, then a volunteer company. In 2014, he was seriously wounded in Peski, Donetsk region, after his recovery he returned to the front. He was called the most talented young soldier. Kotsyubaylo participated in battles for Pokrovsk, Karlovka, Krasnoarmiisk, Peski, Savur-Mohyla. He barely stayed alive and was not surrounded near Stepanovka. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message:
"Da Vinci", a hero of Ukraine, a volunteer, a man-symbol, a man of courage, - Dmytro Kotsyubaylo died today in battle. A fighter of the 67th separate mechanized brigade, a combatant. He died in the battle near Bakhmut, in the battle for Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, during one of the fights Dmitriy was hit in the neck by a fragment of a Russian shell. The wound turned out to be fatal.
