SBU reported suspicion in shooting of AFU POW to occupier

The SBU has collected evidence against a Russian occupier who shot Ukrainian prisoners of war. This was reported by the SBU on 8 March.

The attacker turned out to be a repeatedly convicted Dmitry Kurashov, a gunner of the Storm-V assault unit of the 127th motorised rifle division of the Russian Eastern Military District," the SBU said in a statement.

According to the investigation and military counterintelligence SBU, on 6 January this year Kurashov shot an AFU fighter, who was taken prisoner by Russian troops. Kurashov fired at least 3 aimed shots at the captured Ukrainian.

The AFU fighters counterattacked the invaders and captured Kurashov and his fellow soldiers.

During interrogation by the SBU, another captured Russian "turned in" Kurashov, and later the SBU collected other irrefutable evidence of his guilt in the murder of a captured AFU fighter.

SBU investigators informed Kurashov of suspicion under part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war combined with intentional murder).

The investigation is continuing to establish other facts of the Russian's involvement in war crimes. The attacker faces life imprisonment.
