SBU exposes 5 more conscription evasion schemes: military recruitment office employee among those detained

The Security Service uncovered and dismantled five more schemes to evade mobilisation and illegally travel abroad for men of conscription age.

Schemes to evade military service have been exposed in five different regions, the SBU press service has said.

Ternopil region

Detained an official of the district military commissariat, who offered those wishing to evade mobilisation by inserting in one of the local higher education institutions.

To realise the transaction, the figurehead promised his clients to connect their own connections in educational institutions. The cost of such a "service" he estimated from 2 thousand US dollars from one person liable for military service, - reported in the SBU.

Ivano-Frankivsk region

Two residents of the region helped evaders to get to the European Union on quad bikes through the so-called "zelenka" Carpathian forests.

Rivne region

A corruption scheme was blocked in the region, thanks to which evaders crossed the state border disguised as managers of one of the Ukrainian agricultural holdings. They travelled under the pretext of meeting with foreign business partners to supply grain products abroad.

Transcarpathian region

Two residents of Uzhgorod district "suggested" forest paths to evaders for hidden border crossing.

Mykolaiv

The SBU reported suspicion of a local resident who tried to bribe a senior officer of the military enlistment office in an attempt to avoid mobilisation. But the military officer reported the offer to his superiors and the evader was detained.

Investigations into all the exposed facts are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice. The perpetrators face up to nine years in prison," the security service added.
