Satellite photos of Russian bombers at Mozdok airfield published online

There are six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers at the Russian military airfield "Mozdok". This is evidenced by satellite images OSINT-analyst Evergreen Intel. This is reported by Defence Express.

As of 22 April 2024, six Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, four Su-24M/MR aircraft, and an estimated 20 helicopters of various types were stationed at Russia's Mozdok airfield. At the same time, the Russians drew silhouettes of fake Tu-22M3s and Su-24M/MRs for an unclear purpose," the report said.

Russian occupiers over the past month have regularly used supersonic cruise missiles Kh-22 launched from Tu-22M3 to strike Ukraine.

Five missiles of this type were used on 22 March, three missiles on 28 March, and six missiles on 19 April. Two Kh-22 missiles were shot down by the air defence.

on 19 April, the AFU shot down a Tu-22M3. Judging by the place where the aircraft fell, it was probably flying to the airfield "Mozdok".

The publication concludes that the Russian Federation has 30 Tu-22M3 bombers, and they have concentrated at least a fifth of these aircraft at the Mozdolk airfield alone.

Russian forces began using the Mozdok airfield for Tu-22M3s no later than the end of May 2023. From November 2023 to March 2024, Russian troops also used the Mozdok airfield as a base for their MiG-31Ks with Kinzhal missiles.

Mozdok is a military airfield of the Russian Armed Forces. It is located northwest of the town of Mozdok in North Ossetia, where the 485th Independent Helicopter Regiment is based.

In the summer of 2023, long-range Tu-22M3 bombers, which carry out missile strikes against Ukraine, began to be based at the airfield.
