Saboteurs tried to blow up a railway line in Poltavska Oblast
The SBU has detained FSB saboteurs who tried to blow up a railway line in Poltava Region.
The SBU has prevented a Russian sabotage at a strategically important facility of Ukrzaliznytsya. This was reported by the SBU on 26 March.
As a result of a special operation in Poltava Region, two FSB agents were detained "on the hot seat". The attackers tried to blow up a section of the railway line, which connects the central and eastern regions of Ukraine, the special service said.
To commit sabotage, they planted an improvised explosive device near the track and the power supply system of the rolling stock. The explosives were planned to be detonated by remote control.
The saboteurs were detained by SBU officers at the scene. Mobile phones were seized from the detainees, from which they coordinated criminal actions with their Russian handler - a staff member of the 5th FSB service.
BU investigators informed the detainees of suspicion under part 2 of article 28, part 2 of article 113 (sabotage committed under martial law by prior conspiracy by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The saboteurs are in custody. They face life imprisonment.
