Russian spies in Europe want to disrupt arms supplies to Ukraine

Now the main task of Russian spies in Europe is to influence individual, authoritative people and public opinion.

Andrei Cherniak, a military intelligence spokesman, says this in an interview with a Greek publication.

The Russians invest a lot in working with the media. This includes their open propaganda mouthpieces, such as russia today, as well as other more covert means of influence. There are cases when foreign media journalists recruited by the Russians go to work with the sole purpose of talking to their colleagues to influence their opinions in favour of Russia," Cherniak said.

Lately, Russian spies have focused on neutralising Western arms supply routes to Ukraine.

Russia is interested in all of Europe as a 'zone of influence'. If it subdues Ukraine, it will not stop there. It will go further. And we know that Putin had such plans before invading Ukraine. They may not have changed now," he added.

At the end of October 2022, a Russian spy has been identified in Norway as an employee of the Arctic University of Tromsø. He posed as a Brazilian citizen, although he was actually a Russian citizen, Mikhail Mikushin. Earlier, two more Russian citizens were detained on suspicion of espionage.
