Russians recruit teenagers from Ukraine for sabotage - cyber police

The cyber police of Ukraine has warned about the danger of Russian special services recruiting teenagers from Ukraine to commit sabotage on the territory of our country, in particular to set fire to cars of Ukrainian servicemen.

According to the cyber police, in June, police officers together with the SBU exposed a scheme of Russian special services to recruit teenagers to commit sabotage.

Young men aged 13 to 18, who were involved in criminal activities by Russia, were detained. Now they face punishment of up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment," the police pointed out.

According to police, in Nikolaev region detained two teenagers 16 and 17 years old, who, tempted by the "easy money" on the Internet, doused with flammable liquid and set fire to two cars of soldiers in Odessa region. The customer of these arsons is abroad. According to the court decision, the guys were given a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Another example is the detention of four residents of Dnipropetrovsk region from 17 to 21 years old, who set fire to a military minibus in Dnipro. They were also acting on the instructions of Russian special services, having been tempted by a cash reward.

CRIMINAL LIABILITY

The above offences may be qualified under a number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for which strict penalties are provided - to life imprisonment, in particular under Art:

art. 111 (High Treason), punishable by imprisonment for a term of fifteen years or life imprisonment, with confiscation of property;
art. 113 (Diversion committed under martial law), punishable by deprivation of liberty for a term of 15 years or life imprisonment, with confiscation of property;
ч. 2 of Art. 194 (Intentional destruction or damage of property), punishable by up to ten years' imprisonment;
and others.

We will remind, according to part 3 of article 111 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code, citizens of Ukraine, who in fulfilment of the criminal task of a foreign state did not commit any actions and voluntarily reported to the state authorities of Ukraine about their connection with them and about the received task, are exempt from criminal liability, - indicated in the police.
