Russians fired on Kiev synagogue
A synagogue building and a residential building nearby were damaged during the Russian night attack on Podol on 23 October.
The video of the damage was shown by Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Asman.
The chief rabbi of Ukraine noted that the hit happened not far from the place where people usually gather to pray.
The windows and stained glass windows in the building were broken and the roof was damaged.
The synagogue on Podol, built in the so-called Moorish style, is a unique architectural monument. It appeared in the capital in 1895. Its history is also original: in those times in tsarist Russia the rights of Jews, including religious rights, were restricted. However, it was possible to obtain permission to build a mansion in the Moorish style, ostensibly with a ballroom for ballroom dancing. Nevertheless, the result was the construction of a synagogue in a really unusual style.
As you know, on the night of 23 October Russia attacked Ukraine again. Under the enemy's crosshairs were residential houses, energy infrastructure facilities. In the capital, a drone flew into a residential building at the level of the 21st floor, but did not explode and casualties were avoided. Residential buildings in several districts of the capital were damaged, fires were recorded in Podolsk district.
