Russian troops fighting against gender-neutral toilets in Ukraine - St Petersburg governor

The governor of St Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, has said that the Russian military "well understand what they are fighting for" in Ukraine because they have seen gender-neutral toilets in schools in Donbas. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel after meeting with wounded occupants in the hospital.

Those who went through the Ukrainianised version of Donbass with a machine gun in their hands understand well what we are fighting for. These guys who have seen toilets in schools, where instead of two rooms - for girls and for boys, there are three rooms - for girls, boys and gender-neutral, do not need to explain what values we stand for," the Russian official wrote.

In response to this statement, Boris Vishnevsky, a member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, reminded of the problems in the infrastructure of the Russian Federation:

Firstly, there are big doubts that schools in Donbass had such toilets. And secondly, according to Rosstat, a quarter of Russians have no centralised sewerage system, using cesspools and septic tanks.

He also wrote that "it is hard to imagine anything more gender-neutral than a backyard toilet of the 'latrine' type".
